A Pint For Kim
On June 28, 2026 A Pint For Kim will be hosting our first out-of-state blood drive. This is part of APFK’s effort to support others who have experienced loss and would like to create something life-saving out of their grief. This event is “A Pint For Christian”. Below is a letter from Christian’s siblings. I hope you can join us in Los Angeles to continue to grow our life-saving movement and help another family find meaning in their suffering.

Christian Castro always made room for others no matter what walk of life they came from. He would use his sense of humor to make those around him feel joyful about life. His compassion rose to a budding counseling career for those suffering from mental illness as he served as a peer counselor at the Benefits Assistance Clients’ Urban Project (BACUP). He served his community with the same passion and joy that he brought to his favorite hobby – dancing.
Christian, best remembered for his joyful, happy, funny, uninhibited, and inspired personality, taught us to love and laugh as much as we can. His greatest achievement was the ease with which he could bring laughter into a room. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, care, and laughter that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Unfortunately, his story was tragically cut short on November 7th, 2023. Christian suffered a cardiac episode in the middle of the night and he passed away in his sleep. He was only 33 years old. This episode was due to an incredibly rare genetic disease called Brugada Syndrome.
Brugada Syndrome affects males from ages 30 to 45, one only knows if they have it from three options: Cardiac Arrest, Genetic Testing and/or an EKG. An EKG is the most efficient and least invasive technique to assess all heart risks.
In honor of Christian, we are happy to work with A Pint For Kim to create this blood donation drive on June 28, 2026 in his name and continue Christian’s mission of helping others.
We will work together to bring awareness to this truly silent killer while we provide the blood and plasma for everyone in need. Christian would love to have known that there are so many people out there willing to give a part of themselves to give the gift of life.

Appointments are highly encouraged and can be made by CLICKING HERE. Walk-in donors will be accepted until 1:45PM.
The first 40 blood donors will receive an A Pint for Christian shirt, and all blood donors will receive free admission into the museum for the day ($22 value) and parking validation, tickets for a raffle to win some of Christian’s favorite things, a $15 gift card to a place of your choice, and the gift of knowing your blood donation saved up to 3 lives!
