1) DONATE BLOOD
The quickest and most direct way to help us on our mission is to find your local blood bank, wherever you are in the world, and donate blood! If you are in the Midwest, visit Versiti to find your nearest location. You can also download the Red Cross App, go to “Impact”, and join Team A Pint for Kim. Additionally, there is a feature on Facebook that allows you to sign up to be notified of blood drives and blood shortages in your area.
2) SPREAD AWARENESS
A great way to spread awareness is to take a photo of yourself each time you donate blood. Post that photo on your favorite social media accounts using the hashtag #apintforkim in the caption so that people can follow our movement and learn more about blood donation! We are aware that not everyone is eligible to donate blood, so you can also spread awareness by sharing information about blood drives in your area!
3) HOST A BLOOD DRIVE
Half of the donated blood in this country comes from blood drives hosted by individuals in the community. If you have a location to host a blood drive, your local blood bank can bring out everything needed to set up a blood drive. Additionally, many organizations, including Versiti, have mobile blood drives where they can bring a mobile donation unit out to your workplace, school, or neighborhood. 4) FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS AND SPONSORSHIPS
We frequently are asked where people can make monetary donations. Something that makes A Pint for Kim very unique is that our mission is solely to inspire blood donations, spread awareness, and host blood drives. We do not try to raise any money throughout the year (which is also why we don’t sell tickets to our awesome drawings with tens of thousands of dollars in donated prizes for our blood donors and volunteers to win!). Everyone who works as part of our team does so as a volunteer.
That said, though we don’t do fundraising, the cost of hosting the numerous blood drives throughout the year, especially the annual Mother’s Day Weekend drives, are rather significant. If you would like to assist with the costs A Pint for Kim incurs when putting on the blood drives, you can make a contribution using Venmo. Every dollar will be put towards hosting blood drives throughout the year. We can be found through the Venmo app by searching @apintforkim or through the QR code at the bottom of this page. We thank you in advance for helping us continue to produce these life saving events, and we ask you to join us in thanking our amazing sponsors who generously help us cover the large costs associated with the Mother’s Day weekend blood drives.
If you are interested in becoming a formal event sponsor for the next Mother’s Day Weekend drive, you can reach out to Kim’s sister, Kristyn, at kristynjobenedyk@gmail.com or 630-408-5898. Or look for our “Call For Sponsors” that we post on social media each February.
