On March 8, 2020, the first ever A Pint For Kim blood drive was held at Iron Gate Condos. Though Kim had initially planned to attend the blood drive, she passed away on March 3. She requested that the blood drive be held in lieu of a wake. This event set the state record for single-day single-location blood drives in Illinois with nearly 500 donors and over 800 people in attendance. After the success of this event, the APFK family decided to host an annual blood drive every year on the day before Mother’s Day. This will help stock local blood supplies, spread awareness, and show Kim’s boys every Mother’s Day weekend the amazing and lasting impact their mom made on the world.
The event received a lot of press including newspaper, television, and radio, all helping to contribute to APFK’s mission of spreading awareness about the importance of donating blood.
